SNHS opens work and activities for school year 2020-2021

Salawag National High School officially opened its work for teachers last June 1 and also celebrated simultaneously with schools in Dasmarinas different activities held within first week of June.

Through Deped Order Memo No. 54 s. 2020 basis which emphasizing teacher's work arrangement amid COVID-19 pandemic, 71 teachers from SNHS were given opportunity to use work-from-home scheme. There were 11 members which form the skeletal team whom currently reports physically with alternating schedules. Those were composed of 7 teachers, 2 guidance teachers, LIS and ICT coordinators.

Some teachers feel favored in this work-from-home setup. They thought it is advantageous for their health.

On June 1, teachers launch the enrollment period. First task of team members were assisting parents to process their children's enrollment. Teachers utilized different tools in order to facilitate the enrollment procedures. There were some who used Google forms to serve convenience to parents for its one-click feature. Some teachers chose to use conventional ways to consider parents or learners without access to internet. Those were through short message service or SMS and through calling parents or learners personally.

On first day of enrollment, SNHS served 525 enrollees. Moreover, on June 2 they got 477 enrollees, June 3 with 322, June 4 with 258 and June 5 with 109. This total to 1,691 enrolled students from June 1 to 5.

Aside enrollment, teachers celebrated online Division-wide Brigada Eskwela. The event was initiated by the City Schools Division of Dasmarinas which conducted "Brigada Eskwela '20 Division Virtual Kick-off" last June 5 at exactly 10 in the morning. In this event, the management primarily informed their plans for the Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela in light of the COVID-19 situation to the teachers and stakeholders. Mark Jayson Espinosa, OIC Senior Education Program Specialist of Social Mobilization and Networking, stated that duration date for said event will be elongated from one week to almost two months. That is from June 8 to August 20, 2020.

SNHS teachers did their share for the Brigada Eskwela Kick-off by taking either a "selfie" or "virtual groupie" while they held papers with hashtags: "#BrigadaEskwela2020, #WalangIwanan, #DiscoveringHeroes, #SNHS".
